yes they do have alternators, nascar stockcars are set up engine wise like a highway car. just more power and a few added things here and there

they would have to have an alternator to run all the auxiliaries ie lights and the general running of the vehicle, without it the battery cant get charged up, the car would only last a few laps and then there would be no power to run it.

All of the subsystems, like coolant pumps, oil pumps, steering pumps and alternators, are designed to run at sustained high speeds and temperatures.
