Pit crew members, your average tire changer, fuel man, etc. do not make much at all. In fact, we often work for travel expenses (food, airfare, lodging). Those are considered "pay" by the IRS. Some of the guys over-the-wall are employed by the shop to build and maintain the cars, and do double duty to service the car(s) during a race weekend. Those guys can make a good income, at a cost though to their social and love life. These guys burn-out super fast.

depends on the contract that he or she has with the car owner . the average is about 120.000.00 per year. so divide that by 36 races and you would have your answer.
